Must Lecturers Strike Before They Are Listened To?

By Gweningom

There is a school of thought that opines that in Cameroon, the only language authorities understand best is a strike action.

Those with this view point may not be far from the truth as this line of thinking was exhibited Tuesday December 14,2021.

Lectures laid down their tools demanding the payment of emolument(financial package in the form of compensation) in a strike action called for by the National Union of Teachers of Higher Education (SYNES-UBa)

Students on their part were loitering around after paying high transport fairs from Bamenda to Bambili and inhaling a good quantity of dust on the way.

At the close of the day, a document emerged from SYNES-UBa  suspending the strike action.

Strike Suspension Order

The reason advanced was that they want to "provide a corridor for for the ongoing payment by all schools and facilities which started at 5:22PM Tuesday to role the end."

A day lost can never be recovered. Waiting for persons to go on an industrial strike action before their voices are heard is old fashion and will continue to take us as a country decades back.
