Abandoned Bambui-Bambili Road Now A Pitfall
The Bambui-Bambili road in Tubah Sub Division, North West Region of Cameroon has been described by many as a deathtrap.
This is oweing to the dusty nature of the road, a situation that has been compounded by the dry season which has made life a living hell for users of that stretch of autoroute.
Questions have been asked whether those in charge are waiting for many more to die before the road can finally have a taste of a good tar after a long while.
Drivers have complained how they barely see upcoming vehicles because of the dust,
The road is covered by dust and this is very dangerous because it can cause serious accidents if care is not taken, says Che, a cab driver.
| The Situation Of The Road Linking Bambui and Bambili |
The death of some students of the University of Bamenda UBa last November 16, 2021 after the school's graduation ceremony were blamed on the dusty nature of the road.
None of the victims could see what or who was coming from the opposite direction reason why the accident occurred killing the students who were on a motor bike. To the authorities, it is like many more should die reason why we have not seen any signs that the situation will be better anytime soon. Che added.
Students who use that road on a daily basis suffer more. Many have changed their dressing styles by embracing the brown color which they say is dust friendly thanks to the color.
One student cracked a joke saying girls in Bambili don't need to spend money on powder, just pay a bike for a hundred francs from Bambui to the campus and get the best of powder .
It doesn't speak well for an institution like UBa, a school that is already more than 10years old to have the kind of roads it currently has. Travel to Countries like Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, just to name but these and see the difference.

UBa should be given the attention it deserves, it should have a good road infrastructure and not the kind that resembles the roads to bush markets and farms.
while students pray for the situation to be arrested as soon as possible, drivers on that stretch have also been invited to reduced their speed and drive with a lot care.
